The 12th of January 2010 was an unforgettable day in the hearts of all Haitians and many around the world. A 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck the island 16 miles west of the capital Port-au-Prince. An estimated three million people were affected by the quake, The Haitian government reported that an estimated 316,000 people had died, 300,000 had been injured and 1,000,000 made homeless.
The city of Trondheim is coming together 13 months later in solidarity to raise money for Haiti, in a benefit concert featuring live music, comedy and special guess speakers. All Proceeds will go to Prosjekt Haiti this year.
Prosjekt Haiti is an ideal, humanitarian and politically neutral organization run by volunteers. They have ran the elementary school Petit Troll in Port au Prince for almost 10 years, and have over the years become one of the leading advocate voices in Norway regarding Haiti. NINA BØNÅ; one of the founders, (project manager and coordinator) for the Tromsø area will be our special guess speaker.
